Default Soft top and ice storms!

So this is my first JK winter and NoVA was hit with a ice storm yesterday. This left a nice icy glaze on my jeep. Defrost seemed to work pretty well so I could scrape off the glass windows but what is recommended for the plastic windows and even the top? I just tapped them a bit but they didn't thaw till after I got to work.

With more impending snow and inclement weather coming tomorrow curious to know what others do?

The ice will fall off of the top by itself. If you've got a top that you don't mind some discoloration then you can try waterproofing tent spray from wally world. It works well for a while but it does eventually slightly discolor the top. Also- on the plastic windows I've used a wax to prevent the stuff from even sticking. The aerosol waxes are ok but make sure they don't have petroleum distillates in them or they'll (eventually) cloud up your windows.

I'm just a couple hours to the south of you but take frequent trips your direction and out west (Blacksburg), so I'm in the same boat.

ive never had a hard top on any of my jeeps, when the top does get icey I usually just tap the sides and the ice falls right off... I dont worry about ice on top too much though if its really thick ill get in side and tap the ceiling a few times then the ice will fall off in the first few feet I drive..

I never scrape the plastic windows.. they scratch if you just look at them wrong...

I leave the ice alone on the soft parts. It will take care of itself as the vehicle warms up. Anything I might try to do to it risks damaging it. You're in a four door like me, so just scrape the glass and mirrors and drive carefully. This isn't with the softtop on, but gives you an idea of the ice I must deal with ...

I agree. I would let it warm up long enough to let it melt instead of risking the damage.

Thank for the suggestions. Warming it up def seems to do the job as there's no way I'll be scraping any plastic or top!

Happy jeeping and safe winter to all!❄❄

Since ur familiar with this area u know how mild our winters typically are; but I may grab a can of aerosol wax just in case we have a harsh one as we're kind of off to a good start with ice and snow in Dec already! Thanx again..

Nifty rear defrost I managed to think up (I'm sure it's been done b4) ... If you have a 4 door put your rear seats down and blast the middle vents to the rear it took care of some of the ice 👍
