It would seem that ya couldn't sling a dead skunk without hitting someone selling on OEM JK Soft top on Craigslist. Do they suck that bad?is there something better our there for the money? Having my hardtop off for the first time has made me realize that I could get very used to this no top thing, However, living in Seattle I need an insurance plan against rain.

 

I live in NJ and only have an OEM soft top. I don't see the need for a hard top.

 

That's all I have is soft top. I don't mind it. Keeps me dry, warm, and when I want to take take top off in 10 mins... I would never have a hard top, but that's me!!!

 

I am a dual top user... but hope to ditch the hard top at some point.

That said, I just sold my OE soft top which I used only a few times.. primarily while the hard top was off to paint the inside. I need the security the hard top offers.. One of my spring projects is to build a security deck. I bought the Trektop Nx because I liked the looks and lack of metal hoops to contend with.

If I can resolve the security issue to my satisfaction and get the use out of the soft top that I hope I get, I plan to sell the hard top.

I'm making this a long story..sorry. The Freedom tops are easy to remove, but a PITA to store..especially in the two door. And taking the entire top off is a two man project so the hard top is limited at best. Flopping the Sunrider back or dropping the entire top with no panels to store is a joy. I would think many of the tops for sale are from folks who aren't vulnerable to or don't care about rain.

 

Love my soft top. They are so versatile. You can pull back the top to have the front seats exposed, Take off the rear window, take of the sides and rear and its like a bikini top. I just have a soft top. Did not want to have a hard top to store. Had it off last weekend and I'm hooked.

 

I also only have the soft top. No gripes and I like the look of the soft vs hard top.

 

most people are getting dual top options that will never remove the hardtop.

IMO the OEM top is the best soft top you can get. I bought my 12 Rubicon with just a soft top

 

I have a soft on my JK and love it. I like that I can take two minutes and fold it down or up in case of bad weather. Like stated earlier by others, they are versatile. I had a TJ with a hard top. When it rained/snowed I would have to put the hard top on by myself and it got heavy putting on a lift TJ. On a side note, are JK interiors as tuff and rugged as a TJ interior?

 

Love the OEM soft top. Usually ride in sunrider position since its quickest to put top back on when its raining, and also doesn't limit access to trunk.

 

Any thoughts on the soft tops and car washes? Kinda sucks washing a car by hand at freezing temps.
