Arrow Soft top removal question.

My X is two months old and I have the three piece modular hard top and the soft top. Do you really have to remove the hard top to remove the soft top bracket? The note on the bracket says one or the other must be removed by customer. Is there a way to remove the soft top bracket without removing the entire freaking hard top?

Yeah, you gotta remove the hardtop to take the soft top out. The hardtop is easy to remove though, I do it by myself with the 2 door

If you have help, you can undo the 4 torx screws holding the softtop on. Hop in the back and lift the hard top while someone pulls the soft out the back. I did it like that and had no problems. I did undo the hard top wiring hardness though and all of the hard top bolts.

Edit: Your softtop bolt heads might face the outside of the Jeep Just slide the hard top back a bit and undo them then lift and pull.
After writing this up and knowing a lot more now, you might as well lift the top off put it aside and then pull your softtop...lol...

Removing the hard top on an umlimited is not really fun without some help.. I'd just switch over to soft if i were you, spring is just about here. If you're not ready for soft top weather, i'd just leave it sit in the back for a few weeks.

ditto - i just removed the screws on the hard top and then had a couple people lift the back of the hard top up enough to slide out the soft top (after removing any screws). Can't recall if you have to pull out the rear wiper hose/clip. If you put on the soft top for the first time - better to do it on nice warm day (hard to stretch on the first time). I think there are many here that have left in the soft time for a little time - I got mine on Feb 07 and it was in for a few weeks before I could get to it.

I had to laugh - driving home the other day here in DC the weather turned oddly nice - almost 80. I still have the hard top on and 4 people in a new JK drove by with the top down and did the wave - made me want to stop along the highway and kick the hard top to the curb... of course the next day it was raining and cool... got to love early spring..
