Default Soft top vs Hard top

No it's not another one of those boring "which is better thread"...it's just
another boring thread of wanting to take it off and putting the hardtop back on, I can't seem to make myself do it. I plan on going home and washing it, have bought 3 towels to roll the windows in, planned where I'm hanging it from one of the garage walls but....I go inside the house and check the weather channel to see what's going to be like the rest of the week and say to myself...I'll wait, maybe we will get one more day of SUN and sure enough no rain until tomorrow.
On that note how many of you have kept the soft top on all Winter, I'm going to be true to myself and maybe just keep it until the temps get around freezing or we get our first Blizzard.....

Same dilemma here but I put my Hard Top back on last night since the Soft Top has been stored under my daughter’s bed for almost a week with possible rain tomorrow. It is going to be 86 here today in VA. Like the wife said Totally Topless looks best, Hardtop looks 2nd best and even the Soft Top up still looks better than any other vehicle on the road.

I am also in New England and have no intention of putting a hard top on my JK this winter It's not bad at all with the soft top in winter if you just take some extra precautions with the windows as they get pretty brittle from the cold and are easily damaged.

Take Care,

As far as looks, I totally agree that the hardtop looks great, actually it gives a "classy / expensive" look.... but as far as driving is concerned, nothing beats having the top down and the wind blowing and Sun beating down on you...

I sold my soft top. I had a 04' Unlimited and ever since they added the Sun rider top that is all I used.

Since the Freedom top has the removable panels this will be all I would have used as well and sold the top while the market was good and it was still unused.

No regrets yet.

You Crazy??? It's 90 out today... And the 10 day forecast for MA says 70's. If you have a garage, I'd wait until we get a good stretch of top-up weather (that way you can fold the top up in the warmth of your home).

Me, on the other hand, I'm stuck with the soft top all winter, (it's all i got). Not to highjack your thread, but does anybody have any ideas of what to do for a good hard snowstorm? I don't want a good heavy snow stretching out the top? I was thinking protect it with a cab cover.... opinions?

On our TJ we would just make sure the snow didnt pile up more then a foot or so. Although last year we had a bad ice storm and I thought for sure the bows were gonna bend, but everything was ok.

We put the hardtop back on two weeks ago and its been in the 80's all week We shouldve waited longer!

Take Care,
What extra precautions should I be taking with the windows besides not scrapping them with an ice scrapper?

We never did anything extra with our TJ windows. Just avoided scrapping them or using a brush to get the snow off. They stayed in really good shape.
