Umm, why would the spare have more sun that the other 4 tires? I can see if people don't rotate it in/replace it with the other tires, but seriously, why would the spare experience a worse environment than the ones, uh, driving down the interstate?

Rather than spend $600 for another wheel and tire, I spent $100 for the cover and got a spare wheel and tire for $50.

Just spoke with my Jeep parts supplier (JustJeeps, Toronto) about getting a cover for my Rubi spare. They said that Chrysler does not make them for that size of tire. The reason: covers cause corrosion which will appear in about a year and will void the warranty. Also, covers offer no additional protection for the rubber and to just include the spare in the regular rotation. Anyone else heard this?

I never heard this. I would just take the cover off every once in awhile and clean the wheel and tire. My buddy just made me this for my spare. I only run it in the winter and when offroading to keep it clean. Its a lot easier putting a clean wheel on when you get a flat. Plus that deicer in the winter is realy hard on wheels. In the summer I dont cover it though. I like the wheel to show. 5-37x12.50x17s are something to look at. ![Wink](https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.png)

Does anyone know of a good place to get hard covers (ie maybe a hard plastic)? I am thinking about getting a rear wheel cover, but want to see if the hard ones are cool.
