Spare Tire question
yaaa sadly i dont get out as much as i'd like, just some light trails, nothing crazy...i agree though that if i was going to do anything more, the bumper would be the right thing to get...
JC JK, what did you do with a spare when you didn't have it on the tailgate?? I had thought about maybe doing the same thing and keeping the spare in the trunk but that just makes it really easy to steal...which, is less then ideal....

I have a jeep buddy who damaged his rear door with a 35" tire on, but he wheels pretty hard. I fit my 37" tire/spare in my "trunk", as I am waiting for a custom rear bumper over the next couple months. I just ran a cable lock through it to under the rear seat supports. I would also suggest strapping that sucker down in case of an accident.
i carry a plug kit with me all the time and it has saved me from changing a flat multiple times, but I would not want to go without a spare. If you get the sidewall there is no amount of fix a flat or plugs that will get you home.
jeez, thats rough! guess the actual can of the tire sealant could almost plug that sucker up...

It will hold a 35 easy look at etrailer.com or www.quadratec.com they have them and they work. slide it in when you feel the need and the rest leave it home.
My Jeep is leased, but I plan on keeping it, so I am modding mine up. I was told that modding the Jeep does not affect the lease (by my dealer), but when I bring it back, the mods stay with the Jeep.
As for your spare, the only problem with not running the same size spare as the rest of your tires, is that you can damage axle components if you have to use the spare. With parts like the LSD, you need to run the same size tires. I having been running a 35" tire on my tailgate for a year now with no problems.

my tailgate is holding a 35" spare with no problems. I do intend on getting an LOD in the future but for now it is holding.
Go with a full size spare. I was hit on the freeway and it sliced the sidewall. Without a full size spare I would have been towed and down for a day or more depending on replacement availability. You don't just get flats on the trail and you may not have control over the cause.
