Speedometer calibration at the stealership question.
Long story short... I'll be upgrading to my 33's this weekend, and am due for my (free) oil change at the dealership shortly after that. I was thinking of asking them to calibrate the speedo while I have it there.
Anyone do this at their dealership? If so, what did they ding you for?
Just putting a feeling out, to see if I should just go ahead and buy the Procal.
Thanks all!

Others have reported on this forum getting it for free, or being asked for as much as $160. So, you really won't know until you discuss it with your dealer.

... you will be very pleased with the power gain use the towing map.if you had a Sahara with the 18's and you changed to 17's with 33's you dont need to recalibrate its VERY close.
I had this done.
They can only go as high as the rubicon tires though. which is that 255 size. I was running 35" terra's and at highway speeds it's 5mph off. i think it was 40 or something to reflash the system. 5 off is acceptable for me, just do the speed limit and you're doing 5 over. and from 30 on up it's about 2 mph off and gets further apart the faster you go, so basically anywhere between 2-6 mph depending on your speed. BUT don't forget that you're odometer will be off and you won't be able to manually calculate your mileage. because i'm only getting 210 miles until the fuel light comes on. If it was correctly calibrated i'm sure i'd be getting much more than that.
Other than that it's not too bad. although you can get a programmer for 150-200 and be able to calibrate it correctly, and tune the system to be more efficient anyway which would pay for itself eventually.

I'm running 35x12.50x17 Nitto trail grappler M/T's and per my wife's Garmin GPS unit, I am exactly 10 mph off (55mph, I'm really going 65)? Does this sound right? My dealer had a hard time turning off the oil maintenance notice - I doubt they could do anything like recalibration.

With the Procal you will be able to recalibrate for larger tires or gears. It also has a ton of great extras like:
- Daytime running lamps
- High idle (for winching)
- TPMS settings (change threshold or turn off)
- Center steering wheel (more of an aid)
- One-touch lane change (on/off)
In my experience with the Procal, I can safely say it was well worth the money.
