Default squealing/whistling engine??

I've got a high pitched squeal coming from my engine that comes under acceleration....sounds almost like a supercharger or turbo swirling up, but unfortunately its not! I had it pretty bad a while back then it kind of settled down and now after a weekend of wheeling in mud and water its back with a vengeance! very loud and gets very annoying after a while. I did a search and it seemed like other people were having similar issues but no one had found the cause.....just wondering if anyone has this and has figured out how to get rid of it!?

Sounds like an accesory bearing......my money is on the idler pully bearing as that seems to be the most common culprit.

Start teh engine and pop the hood. Listen closely to each pully until you have it isolated and that will be your culprit.

You sure it isn't your snorkel? My Airaid CAI does that sometimes.

X2 on the Idler pully. 09rubicon was correct on mine as well. Found the pully at Napa for $17

I'd say its most likely your idler pulley also, I've replaced mine 5 times

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/stock-jk-tech-12/idler-pulley-74796/

others I have replaced are the tensioner pulley and the a/c compressor, they easy way to make sure its not the a/c is to turn it on and off, if the noise pretty much stops with the a/c on its the a/c compressor. but most likely it is the idler, a bunch of guys I wheel with have replaced theirs a few times also
