In the third photo it looks like its leaking fluid.

yea didnt want to mention what I saw until someone else did. I think its leaking. their is oil all over the mount in for the foreground of the picture, some around where the piston goes into the body and also from the foreground mount splattered back on the tierod behind the camera like its been blowing out of it when compressed. is that what other people see when theirs goes bad?

They are really easy to test...
Just disconnect one end, and push and pull on it.
It should move smoothly with a reasonable amount of resistance in both directions and not make any strange noises.
