Storage Question
Hey everyone, I have a couple questions about my Jeep that is currently in storage while I am overseas. I always know this is the place for answers. My Jeep was put in storage about a week after I left, its in a heated unit out of the elements, and my girlfriend starts it every couple weeks. I am going back home in a few days for about 3 weeks, and of course I am taking it out of storage while I am home. Going through some crazy withdrawls! Now since it has been sitting there for three months, is there anything I should do to it? Like oil changes or such? I am only going to be driving it for 18 days, and after that its going to go back into storage for at least another 3 months. Which upon my return then my job covers up to 250 bucks worth of maintence and such. Now is it a big deal if I dont get anything done to it while I am home for a few weeks, or should I do it just to be on the safe side. I have also heard that if I were to unplug the battery while it was in storage it would be better off? Is that true, or would it be kind of pointless because I will probably end up getting a new battery when I get back? Any help would be apprecaited, also any other storage tips are more then welcome.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
If it's been in a heated garage, and you're girl is starting it, and if she is getting it up to operating temps. before shutting it off. you should be fine...
It's the condisation that occurs when stored in the cold and not brought up to operating temps that you may have to change the oil....
but when in doubt. change it out.......
just my

did you throw any fuel stabil in the gas tank? that works well for the vehicles I've had in storage. I've left my vehicles sit while tdy and deployed anywhere from 4-6 weeks up to 7 months several times with no troubles. My wife would start my car and let it run for about 10 minutes. That warmed up the engine and let the exhaust dry out all the moisture so it'll cut down on corrosion. start it up and drive it mellow for 5-10 minutes to get the fluids moving then drive normal.
Along with the fuel stabil, I alway took the tires off or put it up on jack stands when I was deployed, I had a lifted ford ranger with BFG At's and lived in South Dakota if I left it on the ground over the winter the tires seemed to mold that flat spot in. Also I don't know how it would affect the JK's but I also unhooked the battery and put it on a trickle charger/maintainer
thanks guys. I was thinking about fuel stabil as well. And I will end up throwing some of that in before I take off again. She has been letting it run for 15 minutes everytime she does it. So I am going to let it ride and see how it is. But like Sin said, I will take it slow the first bit. Once I leave again though whenever she goes to start it I might have her take it for a slow drive as well. She is already sitting there letting it run. Thanks guys!
