Default Sun shade waterproofing

Hey all, I have a JKU 2017 I love. Last year I got both JTOP sun shade and a Gobi rack both of which have been great. The issue I'm hoping to resolve is with the rack it takes a little effort to pull it back (it's heavy) on it's hinge allowing me to put the soft top up and/or down. I have a sun shade I leave just under it all that is in place. It's been on and off rain here this summer and it takes a little too much work for me to want to always go through all of the above described process to lower the softop and enjoy the top down and sunshade up experience or to put top up every time it rains. Normally I wouldn't care so much getting wet here and there because to me it's all part of the Jeep lifestyle however to and from work I do care about getting soaked.

Is there a way to rainproof/waterproof or make water/rain resistant the sunshade. A spray? Any of ya'll done something similar and could recommend how to or another alternative? I'd prefer to waterproof it because the sunshade is red and most bikini tops are black or don;t work with my Jeep year and model. Thanks in advance.

Walt

Is the material if the sunshade a solid cloth, or a fine mesh? I’m thinking the sunshade is more of a fine mesh, which would be hard to waterproof, if it is a solid weave material that you can’t really see through, you may try something like a silicone waterproofing spray like camp dry, it’s made for tents, not sure how long it would last, but could be worth a try

I can't see anyway of making a mesh top so water won't eventually drip down through it. I've been caught in several showers with mine. Light rain while moving is ok, but heavy rain or sitting still just is what it is. The bigger issue for me isn't water coming through the top, it's all the water blowing from the back and messing up the inside of the windshield.

Flex seal. They can make a boat out of a screen door.

It's funny how dead on this is. I carry rags all summer.
