Default Switch panel on a Rubi - what was the intent for the non-functioning switch?

So I put on some auxiliary KM lites and was thinking about where to put the switch. I was thinking it might be cool if the unused switch on the lower switch panel could be used and contacted the dealer about getting a switch, only to find out that the whole switch panel comes as one piece and there are no individual switches to replace the dummy switch for.

Does anyone know what the dummy switch was intended for and why did they go to all that trouble to make a panel if they never intended for it to be expanded on?

Mine has a blank spot, 2nd from the right. It was for a light to indicate the front passenger air bag was off. I guess some '07s had it.

Is the "passenger air bag disable" completely automatic, or can you also manually select it?

I used to think it was blank too, but then my little boy starting riding shotgun and sure enough, it lights up with orange letters saying the airbag is off.

They don't all have it? How do they let the driver know that the air bag is off when it should be on the newer models?

The system was designed to allow a rear facing child seat to be safely used in the front passenger seat. Proper installation of the child seat was required for the system to work. Apparently, Chrysler didn't like "proper installation" being part of the equation.
I don't think the front passenger air bag turns off in the newer models. They simply tell you not to put rear facing child seats in the front, and small children should be in the back seats.

I wanted to put my switch there also, until I removed the panel and saw there was not enough room behind that. It doesn't make any sense to me to have all the spots for switches but nothing to put in them
