synthetic?
is synthetic line worth it for my warn? i have an unlimited. if it is worth it, should 5/16 be enough? the 3/8 had a much higher breaking point. only draw back i could find was that synthetic might be more easily damaged.

I will not have cable on a winch ever again.....
I have a Smittybilt 10K winch w/ syn. line...
2 weekends ago, I was wheeling with some buddies and one of them did the big "Hey guys watch this" thing and got stuck up to his doors in very heavy mud...
I rolled out my line, and came up about 20 ft. short so we had to use a strap to fill the gap. ( I know not the best thing to do but it's the only way to get to him!) Well, I had to have another jeep hook onto me to keep me from sliding forward during the pull!
So during the pull the strap broke!!!! and with the syn. line it just basically went slack, the hook did fly back but did not rocket back like when a cable breaks!!!
Had I had a steel cable, who knows how bad it would have been??!!!!
And I've seen cable do damage on another instance years ago too, pretty much taking out a grill, hood, and windshield!!!!!
So, that being said.... spending the extra $$$ for a synthetic winch line is something I will do any time I buy a winch or recomend a winch, It's just much safer and in the long run cheaper!!!!
