Default synthetic winch line

Finally ordered a synthetic winch line. my cable was in horrible shape after i got stuck trying to go up a sand hill that looked like Mt Everest. almost pulled a tree out of the ground in the process too i would post pics but you can't really see much it's so dark out. i will post some up when i get home from work tonight.

any one else using synthetic??? at least i don't have to worry about kinking the cables anymore

Love the synthetic line. Remember to change out your fairlead rollers at the same time or you risk snagging your new line. I used these: http://www.northridge4x4.com/proddet...=VIKING-ROLLER

it came with a 10 ft protector but i was thinking of keeping something in the jeep that I use when i rock climb that protects the rope when you are belaying or rappelling down something that is sharp or jagged

it is a little more beefy in my opinion i don't see why it would be bad to have in the jeep because it uses Velcro you can use it where you need it always a plus

the company that makes it is Petzl it's a rock climbing company it's called

Petzl Protec Rope Protector if you google it you will find a bunch of rock climbing sites that have it. and they only run about 20 bucks.

How well does the rope stand up to weathering as opposed to cable?

For the same strength is rope thicker or thinner than cable?

i just got the rope in today. just came from quadratec. i will post up some pics later. it has a 13,000 breaking strength. and it's just about the same size as my cable was but stronger. my winch is only 8,000 pounds so my winch would prob explode before the rope snapped
