Default taking a trip

Im taking a trip to Yosemite in a few weeks...if there are any trails, should I just keep it to easy trails since its an X ( yeah blame it on the Jeep )

Or could I try moderate (if I feel up to it)

Plus, does anyone know of trails or a good campground area?

Thanks!

[Tips for my 1st off-road experience(actual driving) will be greatly appreciated and rewarded with long life and a diesel Jk~]

an "X" is simply a "rubicon" without the ego... you will be fine on most trails you select based upon ride height and meats...

rubicon's do have some features that will aid in some situations... but for the most part, you will do fine if you wheel smart

This Zac Finley, per chance? If so, I thought he was at Yellowstone.

My son and I were just out there a few weeks ago. Of course, Yosemite is not really a 4x4 place--it's great for hiking/backpacking, however. Though we didn't actually get off any beaten paths in the JK, the National Geographic map for Yosemite does show several high clearance/4x4 roads in and very close to the park. So, you might pick up one of those (any Yosemite gift shop/book store) and head on out. However, though you might be wanting to try out the JK on trails, don't miss the chance for a view like this:

That's Four-Mile Hiking Trail from the valley floor to Glacier Point (left in the image)--9-1/2 miles (round) and 3220 ascent. You can also drive a paved road to Glacier Point, then hike back to this location in about 20-minutes--but what's the fun in that?

In all fairness give the same driver an X or a rubi and you will get similar results. The rubi will do a few things you can not do with an X (both bone stock baseline models no frills or any mods) but not much. A whole lot of offroad ability is in the driver to start with. Then you get into mods. A modified X will go places a stock rubi will not. Now if you go and mod both with identical everything except a drivetrain change the Rubi then becomes a clear winner with the X breaking crap rather quickly. There is no arguement that if you offroad hard a rubi is the jeep to start with but overall it's all in how you are set up and who is driving which one comes out ahead.

OK kids I'm going to hi-jack te thread but I know what a Rubi is (based on what the paperwork shows me when I bought it) and have met some X owners who claim to "WISH" THEY HAD SPENT THE FEW $$ EXTRA TO HAVE BOIUGHT A RUBI........why is that....IMHO sometimes you can mod your vehicle and save $$, sometimes you're better off buying it off the box ....trust me my TL is faster and more fun to drive than a Type S with a 3.5 ...my baby has lot's of mods and it's only 3.2.......now with Jeeps...I need to be taught a lesson... so bring it on....Humble in MA
