Aren't you comparing apples to oranges with the different lift heights? Both are very good brands. I have a 2.5 AEV and it does exactly what I need.

Whether or not your JK can "do" it really depends on what your gearing is, what your tire size is, and any additional steering or driveshaft issues you may run into going to 3.5 inches. Tell us more about your build and what you plan to do with your Jeep.

I run 35's with the 2.5" Teraflex and love it. If you think you might want bigger down the road, then go for the AEV first and save some $$ in the long run.

I have the AEV 2.5 w/ their tuned shocks and it's amazing compared to the level kit I had before. I don't do any rock crawling so I'm ok with losing a little ground clearence from the drop brackets. I would say if you plan to do a lot of rock crawling Teraflex is way to go. Just remember that a lot of people on here did do front and rear adjustable track bars and front lower and rear upper control arms to really dial in the Teraflex lift so it has good high speed manners.

You can buy all those parts way cheaper from the sponsors on here. Keep in mind that mopar is just buying many of the aftermarket kits from people like Teraflex and marking the crap out of them and reselling it. The best thing for you do to is call Dave at Northridge4x4 and tell him excactly what you want. He has all the major brands and parts that you could ever need and want at some of the best pricing out there.
