Details - they say I owe them taxes on the Jeep and that I'm 16 days past due for a notice I received today even though I'm on electronic payments and went paperless.

How can I be 16 days past due when today is the first day I as the consumer was notified. Electronic age my a**

Since when does any corporation charge taxes?

Is this another Obamanation? He's going to have to pay for snafu health care somehow.

Beel

P.S. I'm sure it's simply a paperwork screw-up somewhere but it's not Chrysler charging the taxes it's your lovely government.

So you moved to a state with a higher tax than the one you bought the Jeep in? And Chrysler Financial is collecting the difference to forward on to the state?

Or what?

When you register your vehicle in a new state the taxes need to be satisfied. Depending on where you are moving to and from, that could result in taxes owed.

The OP has provided no details, but here is a snippet from the Chrysler Financial website:

"If you are a Lease account holder, the online address update affects the physical garaging address where your vehicle resides for tax purposes."

He didn't specify if he is buying or leasing, but I am guessing a lease based on the limited info.

This is from the NY DMV website:

# If you did not pay NYS tax to the leasing company or dealer on all of your lease payments, provide your lease agreement, and complete form DTF-802. You must pay NYS sales tax at the DMV office on any lease payments if the leasing company or dealer did not collect the sales tax. The sales tax is collected in one complete payment at the time of registration.

# If you made one payment to another state for the total amount of sales tax, use form DTF-804 to request credit for the tax you paid, and then pay the balance of any NYS sales tax. This process can reduce the amount of your NYS sales tax if NYS and the other state have an agreement about sales tax.

# If you made monthly sales tax payments in another state, complete form DTF-802, and pay the total amount of NYS sales tax in one payment for all the lease payments that remain.
