And then there was one
Before I got my JK, I looked at the FJ pretty hard. Didn't mind the doors at all - gave it a 2-door look with easier access to a reasonably usable back seat. But I didn't like that it took premium fuel. Otherwise, on paper and behind the wheel, it was a nice wheeler. But it wasn't a Jeep. I'd always wanted a Jeep and knew I'd be sorry if I decided otherwise.
Where did you read the FJ was done?
As far as Hummer, I talked to them at the New York Auto show and it is expected that GM will be making an announcement in a couple weeks that they did indeed find a buyer. They will be providing capitol and GM will still produce them. As far as the H4 (Hummer HX) that will be up to the new buyer if it goes into development. I certainly hope it does. Another vehicle with removable top/doors is good by me.

My boss recently bought an FJ and when I see it, I honestly think it looks ok, but when I look at my Jeep, WOW!!
Thank God I went with Jeep. Sad to know that they will no longer carry the FJ.
I agree competition drives improvement, but I hope the JK model stays around as long as the TJ. Higher resale! Thats why Jeep wrangler has the best resale out of all SUV's.. As soon as a Manufacturer introduces a new model, the resale on the outdated model drops big time. Hopefully they will wait another 5 or 6 years and make even greater strides with new technology. Just my two cents
I think you guys are a little quick to forget Land Rover. I had a Discovery years ago, and it was one of the best 4x4 I ever had. I don't really like the LR3 which replaced it, but if Land Rover sold the Defender in the U.S, it would have been a tough choice. I don't have any regrets with the Jeep, it's a pleasure to drive and it's amazingly capable.
In all seriousness though, I to think that having some competition is a good thing for the consumer. I haven't herd the FJ news though, and also think that Hummer will probably carry on in some capacity.
