Default Thoughts on purchase

I am looking at getting a new wrangler JK. I had a 07 x then lifted it put tires on it blah blah blah. When I ended up getting really bad MPG with my 45 minute compute one way I went to a VW GTI. Now I am thinking of going back to the JK. So my question is right now I have 3 choices. A 07 sahara std with hard top. A 07 Rubicon bare, std. No Power Locks, soft top. Or 08 Rubicon Fully Loaded Automatic with soft top, about 4K more but only 7000 miles. What are your thoughts? Std vs auto? Power locks windows vs nothing? Sahara vs Rubicon? GTI vs JK? Please help I have the itch!!!

I got rid of the jeep because I was getting 12 MPG. The price of gas at the time was over $4.00 per gallon. I was spending over 600 a week in gas.

Manual is much more forviging for the lack of power/gearing of the JK. I wouldn't buy anything but a Rubicon for how I wheel and plan to modify my Jeep.

If you plan on modifying things, sit down and look at the numbers. Gear ratios, trans gear ratios, etc. I did, my 6spd/4.10 Rubicon runs awesome on 35s. Highway RPMs dropped giving me better cruise mileage. I grab 5th if i need anymore pull up grades.

If my calculations are correct, that means you would be putting 93,600 miles on your jeep....per year. Sorry, I'm bored.

Anyways, get the jeep VW's are for sissies.

...yes, but are you still commuting? You bought the GTI for a reason right? Whose to say gas prices aren't going to jump up again right after you purchase a new Jeep?
I'm not trying to disuade you, I love my Jeep and I wish everyone had one and loved it as much as I...but I'm trying to appeal to your logic. How much did you lose on the first trade in for the GTI? Or maybe you were lucky and didn't lose a dime?? But yeah, if your not looking for great gas mileage then go for it...the 6speed will definately give you more mileage.

Yes I was lucky and didn't loose a dime. And right now I am sitting ina decent spot again. I have a choice of an 08 fully loaded automatic rubi with power windows with 7000 miles on it, navi the whole 10 yards. The other is an 07 rubi std with 25000 miles no power upgrades just plain jayne but 3000 or so less. And the third an 07 sahara std about the same price as the base Rubi but with less miles. I still have the long commute 80 mile round trip, but winter is comming and for 3 months a year i don't have the commute.

depending how long you are going to have it and what you really want to do with it. If it was me I would do the fully loaded one but thats because I want to take it to my grave with me.
