Question Tire Newbee

Hey everyone! I'm looking at purchasing some offroading tires, but since I'm brand new to this I need a little help. I have my original stock tires and rims and would like bigger tires. Do I need to lift the Jeep first or get bigger rims for bigger tires? That's my confusion. Looking to get some decent ones since I'm in the north east and deal with snow every winter. Thank for you're help if you can give it !

Look for Rubi take offs. Locally & on the forumns. My stock tires did great in the snow last year.
