Default Tire pressure for ON ROAD

I've seen a lot of posts about airing down for off road, and almost as many saying that the recommended pressure is too high for daily driving.

Forgive my ignorance with wheels and tires. I have 265/70/17 on rubi wheels. I know this is a little bigger than stock. What pressure should I be running for running around town?

Most will say to run what the door says. I have run my tires at the same pressure. Only way to find what really works for you is to play around with the pressure and find what you like.

Thanks! Will it affect anything other than the ride? How will it affect mpgs? Tire wear?

Your mpg's and tire wear will be affected the lower pressure you go. What the door reads is supposed to be the most efficient pressure for both. I usually ran the door (35psi) or sometimes 40 psi in my 35 KM2's.

If you search the forum for "chalk test" you will find a fairly simple procedure to zero in on a good tire pressure.

I have 295/70/17 Nitto Trail Grappler's and run them at about 28 psi on the road. Seems to work pretty good for me.

I'll have to find some chalk and try that out.

The door says to run 35 psi. My tires are new and they had them at 40. I went ahead and dropped them down to 35. We'll see if i notice any difference.

Thanks for the info!

Deffinately do the chalk test... I use to run at 35 found it a little firm now around 32 and still passes the chalk test.

My 2012 Rubi 2dr has the 37 psi sticker on the door. I get the low pressure chime if I go any lower.
