I have a question would this damage my tailgate in ant way? I had 18x7.5 rims on my wrangler x I just got new rims and tires 17x9 xd series spies, but I noticed the tires is not flush with the bump stops on the tire carrier, would this cause damage.

Spend the few bucks on the daystar bumpstops. They are less than $20. Dave at Northridge (a sponsor here) has a great price on them. They take a few minutes to install. Very easy.
