TJ's animosity towards the JK
So I use to have a TJ, loved it and invested a lot in it. It was a monster and then it was stolen recently. So I bought the JK and have been slowly upgrading that one paycheck at a time. And I actually find my JK just as good, if not sometimes better than my TJ when driving on the road, and off-roading.
My friend who has his TJ bashes my JK non-stop for no particular reason, saying "It's not a Jeep." Over the summer though, I'm gonna prove him wrong
But I'm curious, because even when driving around town, it feels like a lot of TJ'ers have little respect for those with the JK. So do you JK owners for whatever reason get some sort of bad vibe from those with the TJ or get bashed on or just any type of gesture that makes you wonder, "what the f_ck is his problem?"
Cause I feel like I get that sometimes for no reason. Anyway, respond and lets let the comments/argument/debate flood the thread.

When you bought your TJ, didn't you get that very same treatment from Jeepers in YJs? And when people bought YJs, didn't they get that very same treatment from CJ owners? Unfortunately, as the adage goes, "It's a Jeep thing."
Taken on the whole, Jeepers are a cool bunch. But there's a certain snobbery that occurs whenever a new Wrangler comes out... the owners of previous generation Wranglers somehow feel that the new Wrangler lessens the worth/quality/manliness/etc. of their older Wrangler.
With the JK in particular, there's an additional strike against it; namely, the fact that Chrysler killed off the beloved 4.0L I6 in favor of the 3.8L V6. Couple that with the aforementioned fact that it's a "new Wrangler," and add insult to injury with the fact that the JK has added more soccer moms than ever to the ownership base, and sprinkle with a dash of good ol'-fashioned jealous. Voila! Instant Jeeper snobbishness.
Welcome back to the brother- & sisterhood!

I have a 2 door JK and I definitely do see the difference between those TJ'ers who have seen a JK offroad and those who haven't. Because when I went offroading a while back, there was a jamboree of TJ's and CJ's and YJ's and they couldn't believe how my JK was crawling. But on the road, they could care less about me.
Anyway, keep the thread going!

I can understand the good natured ribbing. It's something I expect from driving the newest model Wrangler. It doesn't bother me, and I give it right back. I like all the CJ/Wrangler style Jeeps and I don't have anything against any of them.
There are some out there that hold the opinion that the TJ is a "real" Jeep and the JK is not... I hold the opinion that those folks are sh*t heads. They'd rather buddy up with someone who owns a mall crawler TJ than hang out with a JK owner who wheels. They're the ones missing out. Hopefully they'll be able to swallow their pride when they get stuck and have to get pulled out by a JK.

I was going to say the exact same thing. I haven't had much of a problem up here with the TJ/YJ/CJ Peeps. I've pulled them out plenty and they finally got to pull me out a few days ago so now I get to hear about that. Serves me right, I was talking a lot of trash. I will admit most have a lot to say about the 4Dr Unlimited but most have about any long wheel based Jeep (CJ-6 for one). It's all in good fun, though. :-)
I get good natured ribbing from my buddies with TJ's and YJ's about my air conditioning, how solid a door slam sounds, my push button disconnects and lockers, stuff like that. I do see some TJ owners on the road that like to pass me in a "look at me, i got real Jeep" kinda way. F 'em.
I guess I can understand it. I'd be pretty mad/jealous if Jeep released a new Wrangler that was better than my JK in every way.
I'm sure I would resort to making fun of the new fiberglass grill, or whatever Chrysler changes it to next.
