In researching the destination, I'd add to verify routes are open and secure any necessary permits. Just because there's a dirt road doesn't mean it's okay to go there, and just because there's a closed gate, doesn't mean it isn't.

I was alway taught to use Engine Braking "lowest gear" when descending a hill less strain on the brakes and easier to control. It might have changed now that there is ABS and other Hill descent programs onboard Jeeps.

My favorite tip for the dusty SoCal trails is knowing to run your re-circulated air to keep your system (and the inside of your Jeep!) from becoming a dusty mess!

That's smart. I'm in dusty New Mexico and this is one of the smartest things I've seen on here lol. Have you tried it? Of course, it won't work with your top and doors off.
