Default Tow hooks rusting after two months?

I picked up my JK 1/12/08.

I have yet to use the front tow hooks and one of them is already rusting on the corner. Is this something that should be covered by warranty or should I just accept the fact that this will be a charachteristic of my Jeep?

Thanks.

Thats weird, especially if you haven't used them. I get to use mine every time i off road, the paint on them is all scratched, and they don't rust at all.

I would visit the dealership if i was you.

I havn't noticed any rust on mine. I will have to check that out next time I drive it. With the hinges already forming rust, I wouldn't be surprised

how bad is the rust? If it's not horrible, i'd just grind it off and spray paint over it. I wouldn't want some of these dealerships taking apart my jeep if it's not big deal.

(Then again that's just becasue of my luck... they'd probably take the bumper off, replace the hook... then strip all the bolts while reinstalling it!)

1 of mine is rusting and it's only 6months old...I have yet to use it!

It has to be under warranty...they are going to have to replace it

Maybe freeway debris, (i.e., stones), nicked up the paint then the elements caused it to rust.

I get a lot of highway debris and so far no problems.

Wish I could say the same for my windshield.

Rust on a towhook under warranty? I doubt it. How much rust does it take to even weaken a tow hook? 30 years or so? If you're worried, ditch them and replace with stainless. Or find someone who's replaced the bumper and offer a couple bucks for theirs.
