I just bought a less thn new (30K mi) 2008 JK 2D rubicon and have some questions about towing with it. First off I don't how to tell if I have the towing package as it has a 6spd (no trans cooler to look for). Second there's no safety chain hookup. Whats the deal with that?....Oh yeah...will be towing a 1900lb pop up camper...Will it do it?

 

Does it have a receiver and wiring harness?

 

It will basicly tow anything you tie to the back of it, what you have to watch for is the tongue weight and braking. The 2dr is officially rated at 1000lbs, if your trailer has brakes it should tow fine.

 

2dr with 3.73 or 4.10 is rated at 2000 lbs.

 

It has a hitch and is rated at 2000...just doesn't have wiring harness or safety chain hookup

 

Can you take a pic of the hitch and post it?

sorry i thought all 2dr's had the same tow rating, I just learned something new so my new rubi will have a 2000lb rating. Is it just the 321 ratios that are 1000lb.

 

The factory hitch has two places to hook safety chains. Mine is factory. It has them. That's why I requested a picture of yours, to see if something is wrong with it.

I think this hitch was a for a tow hook maybe?>?>?>
