towing package confusion
2009 2dr with 3.73 alxe is rated at 2000 lbs tow capacity. I'll bet the hitches are all the same, so hitch rating will be controlled by vehicle rating.

They may have changed stuff with the 09's.
My 08 2dr has a class II hitch, but I dont have the trailor anti sway or stability software that is in the 09.
If you look at the jeep web site it states it is a class I hitch. I wonder if it also has the small receiver, if so it would be easy to upgrade.

Many folks (myself included) use the terms "Class I" and "Class II' to refer to 1" and 2" receiver hitches, respectively. Though common, it's technically incorrect. The class refers to capacity, not size. Here's a chart that explains it:

Lots of confusion on what is a "Class" hitch vs towing capacity. If the receiver is 2", then it is most likely a "Class III" receiver hitch. However, the towing capacity of your Jeep is "Class I" - limited to 2000 lbs.
Just looked at the hitch itself and it says class 3 on the bottom and has a 2'' hole for my old reciever, the window sticker lies lol.
And yes it does have the antisway, ESP, and all that stuff and I'm just learning about the ESP and from the videos I have seen it looks like it really works.
