Default Towing a Pop Up Camper - and opening the back of the Jeep

Those of you that tow a pop up camper, do you have some sort of extension on the hitch so you can open the back of the Jeep? BTW, the pop up is a small one about 1,000 lbs, so I don't know if I need to worry that much about tongue weight. What something like those hitch haulers - to set a cooler, etc... on?

This is what I picked up to try - total length is 17 inches. Haven't tried it yet, its raining. I can also attach a bike rack to it. Anyone have one of these? Name: hitch extender.gif

Nope, screwed.
I think I was able to finagle the glass open, but it wasn't easy.

The only extensions I've seen have been at bike shops.
I've been keeping my eye open for one that can handle weight, but the extension would signficantly decrease allowable tongue weight.

I have this one (minus the second hitch for bikes) that I use for my trailgate mounted hammock chairs:

It really wouldn't make a difference at all with such a light trailer. That hitch is totally awesome though!

haha, yeah. They're pretty cool, and damn comfortable to boot! The chairs + the hitch extension (necessary for the chair rigging to clear the spare tire) so I'm not sure where they got either thing.
