Tpms
Sorry if this has been discussed before ( I searched and did not come up with anything)
It has been cold here lately (in the 20-30 range) not cold like the midwest, anyway, my TPMS says that i have two tires low. I have checked all 4 with two seperate gauges and they all report 32psi. I added a little air (+1psi each) but am still getting the idiot light. I vaguely remember this happening with my Accord last year, I added 1psi each and the monitor stopped reporting-all was well. Not so for the JK
Any idea why the TPMS is saying low when there are no low tires? Does the cold effect the system? I know cold effects tire pressure, but as I said earlier all tires are properly inflated.

My warning goes on when psi falls under 34, maybe adding a little more air will help.
Also make sure your spare has the correct psi if you haven't done so already, it has triggered my tpms before.

If i am wrong on the number its because I am not at my jeep right now, but the guage was same as the door sticker. I think its 32, but i may be wrong. But, again, the door sticker matches the tires

Did search, found this thread. Any one else seeing this? It was 9 degF yest morn and my tpms said I needed air. When I left work the indicator was off. This morning back on. They dont look low, but I havn't checked the pressure either. Does anyone know if these things are strain guage type measurements, and if so, would the cold give a false reading?

cold air in your tires will lose pressure. when you start driving, the tires will warm up and the heat will expand them to the proper pressure. Your tires are probably on the border of needing air, which is what is setting off the tpms when you haven't driven your jeep in a longer period of time and it's been sitting in the cold.

You can have ten cheap tire pressure gauges and they'll all be different. Bought my craftsman digital for 50% off ($12) and I have some good faith in it.
