Default Trail damage...

We got a little snow and I couldn't resist the urge to get out and play. I was on a trail coming over a hill when i slid forward into a dirt bank with my driver's side tire. I definitely bent the lower control arm bracket. The drivers' side tire sits back a bit now and I get rubbing at full lock to the left because of it.

Here is the result.

From the back looking to the front of the vehicle.

So should an offroad shop be able to fix this? Am I looking at some costly repairs/replacement axles or what?

It actually isn't that hard of a fix. Any 4x4 shop can fix it. It will take some new brackets. Get both sides done. Have some skids welded on so that this does not happen again.

Are we looking at custom made brackets? I've taken a look around at some websites for weld-on brackets but haven't been successful...

Those skids look good...

Anyone have an idea what the O.D. of the JK D30 is? Most weld-on control arm brackets seem to be for a 3" O.D. axle tube.

Hey RuBob, I have been following the thread closely and took note of the links. I appreciate it!

IGOFSHN and RuBob, thanks to both of you.

It looks easy enough to make one and adding a bead to the tube would enhance what IGOFSHN put on his. Great idea, I now see a need thanks to the OP and a fix before it happens to me.

But I'd bet it warms up outside before I can clean up my garage to get the Jeep inside to customize. :(

This thread should be made a sticky, or there should be a forum similar to write ups for threads like these.

Thanks Guys!
