Default Trailer

Hi , Anyone pulled a small trailer yet with their JK.

I am planning an a small 17' with dual axles for a road trip . I do have the 4:1 on my 07 Sahara with tow package .

I think it is going to be near the 3500lbs when loaded.

You should be fine. I’ve towed from a pop-up camper to 21’ boat and jk Handel’s it fine. Just have your weight distributed properly on the trailer.

Becareful not to overload. Use the brakes if it has them. Otherwise you could over load your brakes.

I pulled a 16' single axle from Winnipeg Mb. to Texas in the beginning of July. It was a great trip but of coarse milage was not that great. 64hrs. of hwy driving was about $2000. But no problems towing. My speed max. was about 80mph.

I pull a 8' tent camper, 2-dr. auto. Pulls fine on flat can even use OD, but when I come to any up hill grade which there are many. Ive had to shift into second too make some of them. The unit ways about 1500 lbs. I'm not real happy using it to tow with. However it is what it is.

Hijack here...

GREYSTN.... Are you using the Convert-a-top or is that a custom setup?

If so, have you posted a write-up?

Hi YellowToy
Sorry for the delay on the reply but it's been a busy summer
If you search Safari top mod I showed how I do this by just adding a strap at each back corner. My roof is like this all the time I love it. It also makes it easier to Take down and put up.
