Default Tranny Cooler

Just ooking for any opinions about adding a tranny cooler. About to make a 1200 mile trip, just wondering if I should add a cooler before I make this trip. Not towing anything but there are some hills and logging roads to endure. Just wondering

There's a few good write ups about tranny coolers in the show and tell section.
I've got a B&M model 70268, but havn't installed it yet. Maybe this week end.
From the posts I've read, a cooler is not a bad option.

What he said. Our trannies are known to run hot under load, so I'd say a cooler is mandatory if you want it to last. I just bought a B&M and plan to install it this weekend following this writeup:

Can we call it transmission cooler? Something just sounds nasty about "tranny".

Are you tires stock? Bigger tires (35in) and/or tall gearscause the transmission to slip longer when ascending grades. The stock cooler cannot keep up with the heat generated by the slipping on long grades when the trans is constantly up and down shifting. One way to slow the temp rise is to hold it in the lower gear by turning the OD off or dropping it into 2 depending on speed. This keeps the trans from shifting and generating heat.

Still running stock tires, just an extreme CAI. Just thought running a long trip on small winding roads with hills may cause the tranni to throw up don't want to get stranded out there in the middle of nowhere

I just got back from vacation - Atlanta to Delray Beach - in the Unlimited with the transmission cooler. Running 75-85 never broke 155*

It's a great idea to install one IMO

Did have the stall bug once though....
