Default Trans & PS lines recall work done

Just wanted to report my experience on having the recalled trans and ps lines replaced. I will start by saying my lines weren't even touching, there was no wear to be seen. I conveyed to the service advisor that if it was not necessary, please do not replace anything. He assured me, they would not. Even after showing them the lines myself, before the work was done, they agreed to just look, make certain, and go from there. Well, they replaced both. They got trans fluid everywhere (which is easy to do), it had to cook off the motor a bit for a few miles. I then checked under the hood today (work done last Friday, Dec 20). Found 2 vac lines that weren't reconnected and a little more than 30 oz. of overfill on the trans fluid. Reconnected the hoses, sucked out the excess fluid and will check again. The fluid was cooling during this time, so I will run it again or check it cold.
No offense to any auto tech out there, but WTF??? Every time I ever go to a dealer for work, I find this shit. What gives? The only dealer that never screwed me was our Volvo dealer. And I firmly believe that is because a long time friend of mine worked there and he was the only guy who serviced our volvos for more than a decade. The land rover, dodge, Isuzu dealer and now the jeep dealer. All have done less than quality work. By quality, I mean finish the job correctly. Rant done. This is exactly why I wrench my own as often as I can.......

Anybody else have a bad experience like this? I am contacting the dealer after Christmas and depending on their response, I'll be sending Mopar a fancy letter.

You said the trans fluid was cooling during the time you checked it. Do you mean the engine was not running?

They just changed my PS line and sleeved my transmission line. No problems at all. It sucks to hear a dealer screwing up on maintenance stuff.

it was running. But only driven for less than 10 miles. I rechecked while hot and cold. Final confirmation, a pint too much. Siphoned out and put in a graduated cup. Because graduated cups are smarterest.

i know some guys who cut fuel line length wise and zip tied it into place. The only concern? Heat build up. Without running tests and numbers, hard to say how much.....

Hey man, which dealer was this? I called Colorado Chrysler on Havana to schedule mine. They told me they only get 2 kits per month and they would put me on the list. I don't know if this was BS or what. I thought about going to Arapahoe since it was closer. But if you had problems at either of these let me know so I can find another to go to. For right now I have a spacer that I put in between the lines to stop further damage. Not sure why this is a complete replacement instead of a clip on spacer to prevent this issue. Seems kinda stupid.

this was done at Pollard in boulder. And yes, every dealer in the states is getting max, 1 kit per week. I was emailed a survey which I completed and it took them 1 day to call me. We had a heart to heart about how they screwed up. I told these guys up front how meticulous I am. Of all customers, Murphy's law for them, I am "the only one they heard this from". I'm thinking that is because most don't go in and check the work done. We have yet to resolve the issue. They want me to give them another chance. Not sure yet. Thinking I am just going to visit them, meet the guys and let them know, up front, that I am indeed a prick when it comes to mechanics. MIMO, they are second to contractors for trying to get over on people who don't know any better. No? Send a woman to deal with them, it's worse. Like when the land rover dealer told my wife I needed axles and duffs changed as they checked the fluids. And they were over due. Until I wen back in and pulled the plugs with them, fingered up the diff and showed them some nice clean fluid. He was jaw dropped then quickly claimed he must have confused my rig with another. Yeah, cause so. Many vehicles have the same service ticket number, vin, etc.

A few years back I had a Kia Forte Koup, and the dealer would send me coupons and one was a package deal that had "Valve Adjustments" so I called up the Service Manager and asked, what the hell they would do in a "Valve Adjustment" he told me that they set the lobe lash. I asked how the hell that was done on a hydraulic lifter. He said wait let me go ask the tech, he comes back and said well that there wasn't any valve adjustments to be made on the Forte but they did a bunch of other stuff. I said like what? He said that they did a tire rotation, tire balance and a tire equalization. I said WTF is a tire equalization, he said that it was a tire pressure check. Wow such a deal for $99.99. Needless to say the dealer never saw the car in their service bay. Last time I let someone else do service/maintenance on a vehicle of mine they stripped the locking lugnut and left the oil cap off. That was about 15 years ago. Never again. I did have to let Arapahoe do the swap on the Radiator on my '12 sport because it was leaking and it was under warranty. I had no complaints about them.
