Default trying to decide what to buy?

Well I got rid of my Cobalt SS and now have no car. I am going to drive my parents extra car while I decide what I want to buy. I really like the new JK but then checked out a new Dodge Nitro and it was really nice. Seemed about the same size and for 26,000 you get all pwr features, 4wd sirius and sunroof. So for the same price I can get a JK unlimited. I am going to go test drive both after christmas and see which I like the best. I thought I had my mind set on a JK but the Nitro seemed pretty nice also. I looked at the liberty's also but would buy one of those used but not new, they drop about 10,000 in value ounce you put 10000 miles on them.

Default JK vs Nitro...hmmmm?

Well I'd say buy the Jeep. I gotta think your selection of mods will be greater w/ the a JK and it's a JEEP. I haven't seen a Nitro up close or driven one. It really never crossed my mind to look at a Nitro - over the years my Jeep(s) always got me home. No knock on the Nitro, they may be a sound rig - I'm just a JEEP guy.

I didn't realize the top came off the Nitro.

IMHO, I think the Wrangler looks way cooler than the Nitro, although the Nitro is definitely more plush and luxe on the inside. For someone that will never use the Wrangler's features (topless, off-road) then maybe the Nitro would be a better ride. Plus, it comes with better engine options...

But once you're looking at a closed wagon like the Nitro, you open up your possibilities to thousands of other 4x4s, like the Xterra, Murano, CX-7, Acadia, Equinox, Ford Edge, Liberty, Patriot, etc....

If you can wait another 6 months, the Liberty redesign is going to be out. I've seen spyshots, and it looks very different; totally bulky and squared face with increased dimensions and a very old-school Cherokee look to it. Looks very masculine, nothing like the current Liberty.

Something to consider....

My friend bought a nitro a couple weeks before I bought my jeep. They are very very similar. First thing I noticed was they share the same door handles. They do share a lot of parts. The jeep has a bigger engine 3.7-3.8. Not a huge difference but a little. Jeep seems to have more room. Ride seems equal. Maybe a little softer in the Nitro. Fuel economy seems a little better than the jeep when his wife drives it. A little quieter interior noise (however I have the soft top not the hard). Pretty much same radio and sound equipment. Seat are almost identical.

My top comes off. Jeep looks tougher. Easier to lift and put big tires on.

The nitro is pretty nice but I have to say go jeep! If you have never had a jeep I can see where you are having a hard time deciding. Cause if you have had a jeep you wouldn't have anything to decide.
