Default two month wait for part from dealer

I have been waiting two weeks for an intermediate steering shaft. The jeep is an 08 with 8000 miles on it and never off road. I have had it to the dealer three times before they could find what it was. I called today to see where the part is. The dealer said they will not have the part until Sept. 30. The service manager said you can drive it like that but I wouldn't. So I said give me a loaner and you can keep it until it comes in. He laughed.

Aren't you supposed to get a loaner under the 3yr/36 bumper to bumper? I thought you would, especially if he recommend it not be driven. By him saying he wouldn't but you could is retarded.

Angry That is some BS

Can you drive it, and if it breaks won't they have to fix it under warranty anyway? I would take it to another dealer, or you can google it and see if you can track down a part itself.... Ask why it won't be until Sep 30th.

Even better - leave it on their lot "til it's fixed" and lemon it if it is not fixed soon enough

The service manager called and said they sent an order to Chrysler to locate the part. They listed the jeep as not drivable and in the shop. He told me to drive it. I have been using my other car so not to do any damage. I really would rather have my Jeep home than sitting in a dealership.

If it makes you feel any better one of my body shops in Ontario, Canada has been waiting on a new headlight assembly for a Chrysler car for the better of 6 months!

I shit you not!

Welcome to the club. I needed a rear trackbar and had one on backorder with the dealer for two months!

Finally I gave up and got one from someone on here. A lot of Chrysler parts are backordered for some reason..

Why do you need a new steering shaft? If its the steering clunk it should not affect your driveability.
