I did a search of this site, search of the brochure, and a search of Jeeps website and can not find the exact package or option the Uconnect Web comes with. From what I understand the Uconnect web is the wifi hotspot that one can purchase as an option. Does this option come with the Uconnect Voice, or does one need to order something else as well such as one of the nav options?

 

I believe that it is a separate antennae and router that is installed on/in the vehicle. I was looking for information on it when I purchased my jeep (slim to nill on that). I would imagine that the monthly fee would be outrageous and the bandwidth very limited. Not that this is any indicator for price, but I regularly install broadband WiFi in corporate aircraft and it is nothing for them to pay $600 mo for dial up speed on top of paying a ludicrous amount (like $10K) for a Linksys WRT54G router in a metal box. I would imagine that the cheapest route would be to use a smartphone, or, jailbreak one to allow you to use it as a hotspot in your vehicle.

 

Thanks. It would be nice to see info as to where to get this option and how much it costs or if it is included in the Uconnect voice option. To buy it separately its a 500 costs plus subscription. Cell phone hotspot would be cheaper like you said.

 

I got the 730 Nav unit in my 2012 and didn't even bother to look into this option. With all the different cellular companies outthere having their own hotspot devices why bother.
