updated dog seatbelt thread/question
Alright, so I scoped thru past threads for doggie seatbelts and just wanted to see if there were any updates to what people liked/experienced and input.... I just got my JK a few months ago and am looking into best options for my 60 pound furkid to ride with me when the top is off (which will be always pretty soon, given how this January is going in Florida).
So far it seems like the ruff rider harness is the best option?
Things I'm not interested in: cargo nets, collars (a harness is a must), or building something myself (only b/c I'm not crafty enough to trust my skills with my dogs life).
I am interested in a zipline type deal so she can walk back and forth, anyone have one that they like that works with the harness? I didn't see any in the posts I searched that were purchased...

What we do is put our dog in the harness. It's a generic Petco one (i think).
Put one leash on the right roll bar, one on left roll bar, and connect them both to the harness. Dog can almost reach the edge of seat on both sides, still lay down, come forward and backward.
Typically we only use the system when she feels like it. I have my dogs trained to stay in the Jeep, plus in the incident of a rollover, i want the dog to be ejected and not tied down to a 2 ton hunk of metal. Dogs are resilient, my neighbor just had a rollover a few months ago on the highway and dogs was just fine.

so you do this? with or without the back seat in?
didn't seem like she could go over to either side very far, maybe need to get 2 leashes that are a foot longer than those. she seemed a little frustrated she couldnt stick her head out (which i dont mind if she does, just don't want her to be able to get out). not sure she had enough slack to lay down either...
i think i'm still a fan of the zip line idea if anyone has any experience with that...
