US Military to use Wrangler???
Jeep has reportedly marketed a version of the Wrangler to be used by the US Military as well. It appears to be the same as the Egyptian version. Note the hood scoop/air intake in the pic:

They need to get rid of the freedom top and just use sheet metal, us G.I.'s can break anything! I guarantee the top will get destroyed when equipment gets loaded/unloaded. It would be nice, because the HMMWV's are huge and not practical on the road/tight trails.
Remember the M151 went away and was replaced by the HMMWV because the V could ride in the tracks made by tracked vehicles. The v's are ok, but I thin that a JK with a diesel would better fit the needs of the military. You could still get 5 people in it hummer can only get 4. I agree they would need to make the top out of a different material for sure.
I have always like the Brittish MOD Rovers over our V's.

I half way wonder with HMVs being lost and used overseas and up-armored, that they might use something like this for non-threat areas, or back here in the states. As they go to those heavier vehicles that ave built in armor, I could see the need for something smaller than Hummer to drive around in.
It really is probably for the overseas military market, though I wouldn't mind seeing some of those mods available here.

The article does not say it is going to be used by the U.S. . It is being made in Egypt, so I doubt it will be used by the U.S.
