Vent Blower Talk
I know there has been some discussion about the JK having an above average heater/AC, but has anyone noticed the power of the blower?
I have used the heater, vent, and now A/C yesterday, and i can't bring myself to click the fan dial more than one notch from off.
It blows with alot of force at that first level, i am affraid if i switch it up to 2nd or 3rd level (especially with the windows closed and top up) i might just blow my soft top off.
I can't imagine what kind of psi that thing is putting out at full blast!

The heater is downright awesome (and will actually hurt and burn after awhile if you're using the dash vents to blow on your hands or face). I haven't had a chance to test the A/C yet, but don't think it'll get much use for me... Summer gets up to the 90s and occassionally up over 100 here, but with open-air, I'm probably all set (and I'll just deal with the humidity). The engine also warms up very quickly, which is great for those chilly mornings... they definitely did a great job in this department.
When i see a storm coming, i lower the soft top and place the fan on it's highest setting, then point the blower vents up and slightly to the south.
This forces the approaching storm to vear to the south and cut harmlessly across northern PA, Jersey and Connecticut.

I wonder if someone that's mechanically gifted could grab a junker's blower motor and arrange it to blow into the engine... with that kind of boost, you'd have one hell of a potent supercharger!
I haven't put the soft top on yet (will see if the wife is up for helping to take off the hard top again this weekend), but I'll take your word for it, and given how the cabin is virtually airtight, I can definitely picture the top bulking up and puffing out...
busy weekend coming, but if i get time (and remember) I'll try to snap a shot of it like that.
Seriously though, the vent/heat blower on this thing is the best i have ever had in any vehicle. I was kind of worried about it being a soft top and all in NE winters but it works wonderfully. I rarely have the heat on high (only when warming it up actually) and it stays toasty warm inside (was really concerned about the rear seat with the baby back there, but it isnt a problem. It does however cool off FAST as well (no insulation). Just keep the heat on low with the fan moving it and all is well.

Yeah don't get me wrong fellas, I absolutly love the power of the blower. My last vehicle was severely underpowered.
Maybe that is why i was startled when i turned it on the first time.
Curm.......
you are totally right!
I noticed that the other day. You don't think there will be any long term effect of this do you? It isn't enough pressure to do any harm i would think.

That was good! The blower DOES seem strong enough to alter weather patterns, doesn't it?
