I had a roommate in college who told me about the wave long before I got my jk.
South Texas in general is bad about the wave. I haven't had my jeep long (dec. 10') but I can count on one hand how many waves I've gotten back.
I keep waving though, and I'm sure they will keep looking at me like I'm crazy.

x2. During doors off season all waves occur outside the tub.

I sometimes get a wave back from other Jeepers. I've come to the conclusion that there are four types of Jeepers.
1. The Jeepers who understand the Jeeping lifestyle. Usually initiates waves.
2. The mall crawler/soccer player chauffeur. Ignorant to waves.
3. The snobs. The ones who don't believe the JK is a Jeep.
4. The Newbie. The ones who just bought their first Jeep.

I get plenty of waves. Some days not so many, some days it seems I get waves from pretty much every Jeep I encounter. I just keep waving if I see them, and if I get a return wave, great, if not, I don't let it bother me. At least I know that I did my part.

I passed 3 Friday without a single wave. It was a 2 lane and there wasn't any eye contact.

I never have a problem with people waving. If they see me, and a hand is free, I get a wave. If I'm on a highway, and see someone across the median, I don't bother, and they don't bother. I'll admit, I don't wave at every single one. Mostly, it's because I don't notice them quick enough, or I can tell they're not looking in my direction. Not gonna wave like an idiot at every single Jeep, and I don't expect everyone else to wave at me 100% of the time either.
I wave like an idiot to everyone and will wave until the day my heart stops beating.

like the others said, the wave is still pretty popular here in MD. i even hit up a lightly modded xj today and got a nod back. i must've seen about 6 jeeps today and all but one waved back but i could see he wasn't paying attention. don't lose faith. keep on waving regardless. if they don't like it, it's their problem

I've had Jeeps my whole life and have to refrain from waving when I'm in the wifes minivan.
