Default What coolant does everyone run?

Can we even run a different type of coolant, such as water wetter or engine ice? Or are we stuck with DexCool or whatever it is now?

So why would you want to change your coolant? Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

It gets hotter that 2 rats f*cking in a wool sock down here in the summer and I want the engine to run as cool as possible with minimal strain. I use engine ice in my GSXR and that stuff is awesome! Just not sure if its approved for the new vehicles that use the new DexCool coolant.

If you're that worried about it, run straight water in the summer. Nothing else dissipates heat better. Nothing.

THis is true, just make sure it's distilled. I will say though, that coolant raises the boiling point of the radiator coolant, so under load conditions that might be beneficial over a straight water fill.

Well, I forget now cause I got more important stuff to devote brain cells to...like my family, church and all.....but heck, it's somethin like for every pound of pressure the cooling system is under the boiling point is raised like 7 degrees. I think I remember that right. Damn, that GM training school don't seem like it was 25 years ago.

I'm thinking of using some engine ice, with a winch blocking the girlle somewhat, and going through mud which kind of clogs up the radiator, overheating can become an issue under the right circumstances.
Engine ice won't keep your engine cooler during normal conditions, as the thermostat does the job just fine for regulationg the temp, but as soon as you factor in not enough air flow over the radiator, or a dirty radiator not allowing heat dispersion, then the more expensive coolants will help keep things under control.
