You know the folks that just want to look cool in a "4-wheel drive" versus people that actually take their vehicles offroad. A clean rig with running boards and tail lamp gaurds is a sure sign. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Running boards are fine if you don't play in the rocks. I wouldn't have issues putting them on my Rubi, but it's just as easy to weld extensions onto the rock rails, so I'll go that route. I don't do hardcore crap with mine, but it definitely sees it's share of trails/back roads.

You're making assumptions. My 07 had tail lamp guards and running boards. So does my buddies for that matter.

Even better if you aren't the guy that just turned $700 worth of running boards into $700 worth of really soft rock rails, now smashed and bent up into the rockers, right?

My JK is all street driven... I can have those items, right?
In all seriousness I think there is a huge grey area between the 'status symbol' JK owners and the off-road oriented JK owners. I feel like it's at least 50% of the actual JK population (at least in my area) - they're just not represented well here. They own JK's for a bunch of reasons between the two camps. Fun, quirky, configurable, convertible, etc. etc. We know the reasons!

My point exactly. There's nothing wrong with "street queens" in my opinion. As I see it, i have alot more respect for those guys than for obnoxious ricers speeding down residential streets at 2AM. What bothers me is that he paid the price of Spyder rock guards for a pair of plastic steps that other people throw away. I'm not judging his style, i'm sympathizing with his getting entirely ripped off. Like i said, the dealership also threw in a 100$ install fee... Thats literally 15$ per bolt screwed in. Unreal...

Lol. Yeah, but it's one more sale for Chrysler to convince them to keep making a body-on-frame, short RWD chassis with part-time 4wd. If that's what we gotta do, bling it up baby!
