This is what the Leak Specialist told me...
That by having the soft top (still wrapped up as it came from the factory) in the back of my rubicon unlimited, that it is putting stress on the hardtop, which is partly responsible for my leak issues.
I dont really see where it could be putting pressure on the hardtop... I want to get it out of there, but its been cold, and now that its warming up, I had to leave the hardtop on for the leak issues to be fixed... Is this a BS reason for leak issues or what??? |
I can't imagine. My hard top didn't leak but if I recall how the soft top was in the back it didn't really push on or seem to stress the hard top installation. Where is your hard top leaking? I assume you have a 4 DR with the freedom top? I would ask him to show you the possible connection between the soft top being in and the hard top leaking. Doesn't make sense to me.

This sounds like a huge cop out to me... I can see it now: they saw that you still had the soft top in there, and a lightbulb went off over their head... "Oh, he's not supposed to have that in there still, so we can say it's HIS fault!" :yup:
Keep fightin' the good fight - they're BS-ing you HARD. |
Ditto. sounds like uberchit to me.
|
Yeah, they are just BSing you. Just keep pokin' the stick at em'.:yup:
when you get your hardtop back, make sure leaves don't fall on it. They will put stress on it...................... :naw: |
Ya I went out and looked closely at the back inside, once I got it home, and I didn't think there was anything weighing down on it...
The dealership said they fixed this leak...on dash on drivers side from pillar...and they added more seal to where the windshield meets the roof as I had excessive wind noise at anything over 65 klm/hr. The dealer said they 'had to word it' so I'd get it done 'free', but stressed removing the soft top. What a bunch of bullshxt. I'm reading the manual though for removal etc, and what the hell were the authors of this thing on when they wrote it...totally confused reading it. |
I would take the softop out, go to the dealer, put the specialist in the front seat, and blast a hose at the seem where it leaks, when he gets wet, be like: "hhmmmm i guess the softop didnt have anything to do with it after all"... and finish up with: "So now that i've been lied to, screwed around, and had to drive back and forth multiple times, how does this dealership plan on keeping me as a customer when i buy my wife the 2dr rubicon model" whether or not you're ever going to buy another jeep in your life, if you let them think you're about to drop 30K on a new 2dr rubi, i have a feeling they'll be a little more friendly.

I disagree. No need to lie about it. Just make them make it right. Tell them it isn't right, and don't settle until they do. As I've said in many other threads, theres no need to stoop to any low level and lie about things just to get your way. That's childish. It obviously sounds like your hard top is faulty. If they don't give you satisfaction, call DC..or even visit another dealer for another opinion. Explore your options...
Now JackmacOKC I see your point and lieing is wrong, i'm not argueing my point to insult you or prove you wrong so i hope i've done neither. I suppose i should have elaberated further because what i really meant is that if it comes down to it, and there is no other way, thats a last resort option, other than just keeping the soft top on all the time. as for me, so far no water leak, but it hasn't rained since the last fix by the speicialist either. I wish it just had a softop and i'd never have to worry about it. again, i hope i didn't insult of offend anyone as that was not my intention at all. Good luck getting the top fixed to all who have the leak. |
