Picking up a Sahara I found on a lot next weekend.

What items should I be checking as a delivery inspection ?

Problems others have had or dealer shortcomings / corner cutting?

I would take it for a drive..maybe even with your salesman/woman, and test every switch, button, lever....and go over the interior and exterior with a fine tooth comb. It might take you over an hour to be thorough....put it in 4 hi and 4 lo just to make sure everything is tip top....if its a soft top, fold it back, put it up...if its a hard top, take it through a car wash to make sure no leaks....and on and on....anything you can think of that could go wrong, test it. Thats my opinion anyway. You have a warranty though....so any problems should be taken care of anyway, but easier to get it done before you sign the papers. Good luck!

 

Dents/depressions in the doors at the lower hinge, dents in the cowl from the mirrors hitting without the straps on the doors, scratches on plastic interior. On the hard top models, over tightened freedom top hand screws would cause cracks in the panels. (That was early on, I think they have learned) Just check to see if they are hand tight.

Not too much else these days, they used to have problems with paint around the hinges, but I haven't heard that one for long time either.

Do a search, there used to be some big lists many months ago.

 

Updated flashes to the computer in your JK. Dents in the door, dents where the mirror hits when the door is opened all the way without the web strap on. Then missing or shoddy painting. Look under carpet in back. And everyplace else. Scratchs in the plastic. Leaks under neath around all the drive components. Just look look look for anything that isn't or doesn't look good or right.

 

Also check under the hood make sure you have the insulation and your underhood light.
