Default What is UP?

Okay I know that this topic has been beat to death but I seriously can't figure out why my JK acts like the gas tank is a shot glass? Here are the specs:

1) Brand new JK with 1030 KM or 643 Miles.
2) Right now I have 303 KM or 190 miles on it with less than a 1/4 tank.
3) 6spd JK and I drive like an old lady with people up my ass all day.
4) My commute to work (M-F) is 80% Highway in 6th gear @ less than 2200rpm.

Bottom line is I am lucky to get 340 KM or 213 miles out of a 70 litre tank? Now I have used the search button on this topic and saw that some guys JK's gas millage has increased with age but....

On a side note: I didn't buy this JK because of the amazing fuel efficiency.

I'm not sure why it's so bad (any who have posted so far). Meter shows me avg around 19.5mpg. And that shoudl go up a bit after 1 - 2K miles on the engine I am told, and I have a heavy foot (and less than a 1/5th of my miles so far have been above 50mph). It's not great mileage in a Jeep, but I'm where I should be, don't know how some folks get it so bad.

Unlimited X, S package, Freedom top.

Another member posted a while back something like... The aerodynamics of the JK is like driving a brick with wheels...

Consider your mods, bigger tires, bumper and/or skid plate weight... I'm lucky to get 10-12mpg.

But I still love my Jeep!

The thing is a boneyard stock Saraha! After using the search button on this topic, I have yet to find anyone that is buring anything close to what I am.

340 KM or 210 Miles per tank is BRUTAL.........but fun.

Wow, I hope it gets a better for ya. I have a pretty close comparison here. Stock 2door JK 6-speed with the tiny 225 tires that I've only had about a month and have about 2200 miles on it so far. My commute is 120 miles a day of all highway and I'm guessing we have the same gearing because I'm running about 2100 RPM at 70mph in 6th gear. I've only run a few tanks of gas through it, but the mileage has been getting better.

15.5mpg.......18mpg.......19.5mpg......21.5mpg.... ..and my last 2 tanks of gas I ended up going 350 miles on 17 gallons of gas which puts me at 20.5mpg.

Just for reference......my fuel light kicked on yesterday at 306 miles, then I drove it another 44 miles and filled it till the pump shut off right at 17 gallons. I don't top off my tank.

I got 225 miles per tank on my 2dr when it was stock. Sometimes less, never more.

Winter fuel additives? I know down here in Tennessee, we get a winter blend that kills fuel economy, I think the computer needs a few tanks to adjust, and then it is still not as good as it is with the summer blend. I would imagine, you guys have a lot of additives to keep moisture from freezing..
