I'm totally guilty of this. I'm always checking out the jeep and then the wave. I think holy shit I almost missed it. Then when I really pay attention they don't wave back. Ha. I never get mad. Hell I pass my wife headed home on a two lane road and she never waves back. Says she didn't see me.

I've noticed too that people in TJ's and YJ's don't wave as much as others in JK's. I've also noticed that ALOT of girls in Jeeps don't do the wave, they probally think I'm some sort of pervert!

i get a lot of assholes that don't wave, they just glare me down...but there is like, a 60 year old lady that waves every time. and i got a wave driving along the coastline the other day, checking out all of the rich houses in a town near me (lot of celebs around there) all of the sudden, a 4 door JK rubicon goes by, with a couple probably ages 55-60, and they had the freedom panels off in 50 degree weather, gave me a wave out of the roof.

OP, correct me if i'm wrong in saying you are driving a stock jeep.

By the jeep wave code a higher jeep (in this case modified) does not have to return a wave, but may, to a lower jeep (stock in this case)

Hmm

My absolutely non-scientific assesment would be this ;P

about 90% the people who do not wave back are in JKs (i have one too)
about 80% of them are unlimited jeeps
about 70% of those are bone stock
about 75% of them are women drivers

Generally, I blame the dealerships for this. When i first bought a TJ they sat me down and explained the 'wave' which my buddies had already done. However, when I bought my JK they didnt say a word.

The JK unlimited has become an SUV for many people.... Not the people on this site (obviously) but you all know what im talking about. Many of them decide between an unlimited JK, liberty, commander etc etc.

Now in many ways that is a good thing (more jeeps Yeah!) such as stability of the brand and more 3rd party mods. However, whenever any small grp gets bigger (with more diverse people who arent all "hardcore"), the friendliness you are used to fades somewhat.

What can we do?

I just keep waving at these bastards hoping they will get it!

Take your doors off! I was having a hard time this winter geting a wave back but ever since I took them off I have been geting them all returned. A guy in an older CJ even saluted me. I am guessing it had something to do with it being 49 degreese at the time.
