Default Whatever happened to the Wrangler EV?

I remember hearing about it a few years ago and since then, nothing. I'd actually like going semi-silently through the forest.

It was the electrically powered JK. Here's an article about it:

You'll be completely silent in the forest when you find that your juice has run out and you can't refill the Jeep with a gas can.

Umm, no. It has a further range than current JKs. Does yours get 400 miles to a tank?

It will if I push it the last 180 miles...

Actually got thinking about this the other night watching Terra Nova. They have some little "jeep type" off road vehicles (short wheelbase 4wd looking doorless toys), and all their vahicles run off of electrical "power packs". Reminded me of that EV jeep and that in ~30 years all our vehicles may be like that.

The problem with electric cars is where do you get the electricity from.

Batteries are heavy, expensive and take a long time to charge, and have limited distance
Solar, not enough power, expensive
Hydrogen, expensive conversion technology, same price as gas to generate currently

Until we figure out a way to store electricity or create it that's fast refill and cheap to make we wont see the gas car get replaced, unless we run out of oil then we will have no choice haha.

That all being said I would rock a electric jeep in a instant if it was easy to refill like gas or diesel

Wonder if you could mount a solar panel on the roof and charge the batteries that way? Would it take too long?
