Default Wheels & Tires

Hello fellow Jeep lovers! I would appreciate your help. I have a 2015 Unlimited Sahara that I plan on lifting 2.5" inches. Really just for in town driving, no mudding or trails (i'm in the city...there is none!). I would like to put 35's on it with 20" rims. I've read about backspacing and don't really understand it (hey I'm a girl LOL!). I don't plan on doing any other modifications besides the lift. What kind of backspacing should I be looking for so it doesn't rub? Also, will I be OK with just a stock tire carrier extension bracket, or will the spare tire & rim at that size be too heavy? Thanks for your help!!

Default Backspacing

I would say 4.5" or even 5.25" would work for you. I know AEV Wheels are 5.25" But if you are going for a wider stance 4" would be better.

for that lift and for 35's between 4.5 and 5 is the normal bs.

I have a 16 hardrock. I did a 3" lift with fuel coupler rims 18X9 rims. They have 4.5" back spacing. I then mated them togo open country R/T's 285/75/R18 (34.7x11.3x18). I feel this was perfect. No shaving was needed due to not going with 12.5 wide tires like everyone else. I was looking at 20" rims originally but decided they were to big fir 35's. To each there own tho. I know my installer said sone shaving would be needed w 12.5" wide tires.

As for the tail gate. If you like it un damaged get a rugged ridge tail gate support with carrier for $500 on amazon. Or a Maximus 3 witch is pretty badass for 725. I have the RR one because i didnt know about the other.

If you dont mind the risk of gate damaged for run it stock. The back spacing should allow it but idk about bumper clearance as my bumper different on the hardrock.
