Revenge was mine! LOL!!! We went house shopping, there was a model my wife wanted to look at again even after we ruled it out. We went on to look at some others and as we were returning to the jeep, she said she wanted to go back into the model we didn't like because she thought she might like it. Well, I didn't like the floor plan or lay out at all and I told her "No, I'm not going back in there and I'm not agreeing to buy anything I don't like". She was a little miffed but got over it like a big girl.

I use the same excuse she gives me when she comes back from the mall with a bunch of bags. "It was on sale and I needed it."

I got the house, car, jeep, scuba gear, kayak, flat screen TV's, welding equip, guns, gaming consoles & man cave before I got the wife. She can't change the past.

My wife isn't a gearhead. We also have separate bank accounts because we've both been married once before. Therefore, I have some leeway. But, here's been my run-in's:

2008 Harley Street Bob -- Take off work. Pick up bike. Drive home. Park in garage. Pick up the kids from school. Watch TV. "Kris, who's motorcycle is that in the garage?" "You see hun, there was a really good deal...."

2006 Lexus -- Pick out car after work. Purchase car at lunch following day. Show up at her job asking if she wants to go to lunch. When she comes out, voila.

I've had no less than 12 cars in the last 13 years and I always go nuts modding. I'm trying to refrain myself with the Jeep AND trying NOT to lie--I just omit information.

Came home with the lift and tires: "Why does your Jeep seem so high?" "Well, these tires are bigger diameter so yeah, I see what you're saying." Which then led to me being FORCED to get side armor/steps. So that one was a win/win.

However, it's backfiring as I get older and my kid is driving. When I was a kid, just having a car was awesome. Now, I catch him dropping hints about how he wants to lower it, put rims, do this, do that. I'm like "Dude...I aint paying for any of that. Learn like me. Break stuff until you fix it, then you'll be a decent shadetree mechanic."

And it backfired when she bought a $7K watch and called me saying it was on sale and less than $7K and I asked how much and she said $3K...I told her fine...get it. To which she said "GOOD! I already got it."

we have our toys. They have theirs.

My wife has been really good about the JKU. When I sold my CJ-7 last July I was planning to buy a TJ but she insisted I look at something newer and nicer with an auto trans. Used JKs are really not much more than nice TJs here. She didn't like the size of the 2 DR JK so it had to be a JKU. I'm very glad I got the JKU. Found a great deal on my 09 JKUX late last August. She liked it as soon as she saw it in the PO's driveway and the test drive sealed the deal. She looks forward to trips in the JKU. When I told her I'd like to get a hard top for it she agreed. My JKU is my DD and we use it when we travel.

Late July we went on our 2nd trail ride. My JKU was totally stock so I told my trail guide to go easy because I didn't want to break it. He says "If I take you on some of the harder trails your wife will tell you to Mod it". Well, he starts us right off on some tight trails with steep climbs and water crossings. I was bottoming out and getting real close to trees but with the OE rear locker and electric discos I followed his modded TJ everywhere. After the ride my wife says "You need to beef this up so we can handle the trails better".

A few weeks later after doing some research I installed a front bumper and front skid, engine/ trans/ TC and gas tank skids, rock sliders and RK 1.5" Max Travel lift. My wife barely made a sound or showed any signs of dissent when I told her what I spent. My JKU looks great, rides better and I'll feel a lot more confident on the trails.

Well, we bought a pretty sweet castle. 3 car garage with work shop. The 3rd bay is separate which is where the JKUR will rest at night. I earned lots of points on this one. Once it's built, and were settled in, she won't have a counter on anything done to the Rubi.
