Default Where on my Key?

Hey guys, been meaning to ask this for awhile but keep forgetting. I know and understand our JK's are sentry key protected with immobilizers in the key/circuit board. Question is, does anyone know where on the circuit board the immobilizer is? and if it can be cut off and used in a different key? Am trying to thin down my key's into one fob and would really like to avoid the bulky key Jeep provided.

I am not sure, but maybe you could secure your factory key hidden in the steering column near the ignition switch, and have a thin blade only key cut and see what happens.

If you will open the housing, as if to change the battery, and the battery and circuit board will come out pretty easily. my wife managed o break her key off in the ignition and I swapped her internal components into a new housing with an uncut blade. Its super easy.

I guess I misread the op. If you don't want to use the buttons, you can get one of the gray transponder keys programmed to your jeep. If you have both of your original keys, you can do it yourself. There is a thread on here somewhere. I hope that helps.
